Theatre South Playhouse in Dr. Phillips, Orlando is seeking Teen and College age actors for our 3-week summer pre-professional training production of Jonathan Larson's "RENT - School Edition!"
Set in the East Village of New York City, "Rent - School Edition" is about falling in love, finding your voice, and living for today. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, it has become a pop cultural phenomenon with songs that rock and a story that resonates with audiences of all ages.
"Rent- School Edition" follows a year in the life of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side. How these young bohemians negotiate their dreams, loves and conflicts provides the narrative thread to this groundbreaking musical.

Please submit your auditions by May 23rd at midnight. (But earlier is always better!) Please prepare a short one minute selection in the style of the show (Or even something from the show! YES, THAT'S WHAT WE SAID, FROM THE ACTUAL SHOW!) In addition, please present a one minute monologue of your choosing.
**PLEASE NOTE** we are looking for honest, fresh performances and not imitations of the Broadway or movie soundtrack.
Price: $290 per week for three weeks- (payments: one at time of enrollment, one on 6/7, and the final on 6/22) or one payment of $850 at the time of enrollment.

A mandatory dance/movement call will be held on Sunday, June 7th at 2pm followed by callbacks that same afternoon and if needed, evening. *Not everyone may need to attend the callback portion in order to get cast. EVERYONE that registers will be cast in the show.
Rehearsals begin June 8th-June 26th. Monday - Friday. 10am - 4pm.

*TSP is contractually obligated to present "RENT - School Edition" AS IS. We will not be making any changes to the story, characters, lines, lyrics, or subject matter. By registering yourself/your child for this production you acknowledge that you are familiar and comfortable with the subject matter and content of the show.
*Please be advised that a minimum of 15 participants is required for this camp otherwise it will be subject to cancellation. In case of cancellation, families will be notified 2 weeks prior to the start of camp and a refund will be issued.
*TSP has a strict "no refunds" policy.

In this hilarious and outlandish story, the lives of a Canadian chamber choir are cut short in a freak accident aboard a roller coaster. When they awake in limbo, a mechanical fortune teller invites each to tell a story to win a prize like no other — the chance to return to life. This popular musical is a funny, moving look at what makes a life well-lived!
Theatre South Playhouse is now accepting video audition submissions for replacement actors (ages 18 and up) for the return of the Central Florida hit production of "RIDE THE CYCLONE."

Rehearsals begin on March 22nd for new cast-members, with the returning cast joining the week of April 13th. Rehearsals are held on Sunday afternoons/evenings and various weekday nights.
Please note that we have rotating casts, and you may not be scheduled for every performance.
