TSP is now casting for all types, shapes, gender identities, abilities, and ethnic backgrounds for
"The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee!"
Pre-Professional Training Production
TSP is casting actors 15 - 24 years of age for this pre-professional training production.
An eclectic group of pre-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Only one speller leaves a champion! At least the losers get a juice box.
Auditions:
Please submit your auditions by December 7th at midnight. (But earlier is always better!) Please prepare a short one minute selection from the show (YES, THAT'S WHAT WE SAID, FROM THE ACTUAL SHOW!) In addition, please spell your favorite word and give it's definition and origin, and tell us a short story from your childhood.
**PLEASE NOTE** we are looking for honest, fresh performances and not imitations of the Broadway soundtrack.
Callbacks:
Tuesday, December 16th at 6 PM.
There will be a required dance call, followed by invited callbacks.
*Callbacks are by invitation. Not every actor will need to be called back.
Rehearsals:
Begin January 26th.
Tech Week:
Friday, April 3rd - Wednesday, April 8th
*No rehearsal on Easter Sunday

"The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee!" is part of our Pre-Professional Training Program with various options for your actor.
Choose your track:
Track 1:
In addition to the training received in rehearsal for "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee!" you receive your choice of two (2) hourly Conservatory Enrichment Classes per week. All classes begin the week of January 6th and run through May 14th. Every class has a final showcase at the end of the semester in May. Class info is below.
Price: $300 per month
(4 hours of rehearsal, plus two hour long training classes per week)
*One payment is made at the time of registration and then once per month beginning in February through May.
Track 1 Class Options:
All classes begin the week of January 10th and run through May 14th. Every class has a final showcase at the end of the semester in May.
Mondays:
- Acting & the Creative Process - 3:10 - 4 PM, 4:10 - 5 PM
- Broadway Dance - 3:10 - 4 PM, 4:10 - 5 PM
Tuesdays:
- Stage Combat - 3:10 - 4 PM, 4:10 - 5 PM
- Int. Ballet - 3:10 - 4 PM
- Beg. Ballet & Tap - 4:10 - 5 PM
Wednesdays:
- Musical Theatre Prep - 2 - 3 PM
Thursdays:
- Puppetry for the Modern Stage - 3:10 - 4 PM
- Improv - 4:10 - 5 PM
Track 2:
"The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee!" ONLY. This track only includes involvement in the TSP Pre-Professional Training Production of "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee!" No additional Conservatory Enrichment Classes are included.
Price: $200 per month
(4 hours of rehearsal per week)
*One payment is made at the time of registration and then once per month beginning in February through April.
Track 3:
TSP Conservatory existing/enrolled students. Please call (407-601-4380) or email (admin@theatresouthplayhouse.org) to enroll as the price point is adjusted to reflect your existing Conservatory Enrichment Classes.
Price: $175 per month
(4 hours of rehearsal per week)
*One payment is made at the time of registration and then once per month beginning in February through April.
*Registration is REQUIRED to hold your audition spot.

TSP is thrilled to present
"DESCENDANTS!"
Based on the popular Disney Channel Original Movies,
Disney's Descendants: The Musical is a brand-new musical jam-packed with comedy,
adventure, Disney characters, and hit songs from the films!
Imprisoned on the Isle of the Lost – home of the most infamous villains who ever lived – the teenaged children of Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Jafar, and Cruella De Vil have never ventured off the island… until now. When the four troublemakers are sent to attend prep school alongside the children of beloved Disney heroes, they have a difficult choice to make: should they follow in their parents’ wicked footsteps or learn to be good?
TSP is now casting for 3rd - 12th graders of all types, shapes, abilities, and ethnic backgrounds for this pre-professional training production of "DESCENDANTS"
Auditions:
Wednesday, January 7th at 4:15 PM
All actors must attend a mandatory dance call at 4:15 PM on Wednesday, January 7th, followed by audition time slots beginning at 5:30pm. Actors should prepare a short vocal selection (no more than 1 minute long, please) in the style of the show. No a capella singing or tracks, please. All actors need to bring sheet music, properly marked to sing, in a binder. Please have a short monologue prepared if asked.
