TSP Academy and Conservatory Policies
Enrichment Classes = High School Elective Credits and PE
Enrichment classes have set curriculum and goals to be met by the end of the semester. Students in 8th grade and higher will be able to convert our enrichment classes into High School Elective credits required for graduation. Being prepared, with all materials required, is an essential part of the class. Any student that is unprepared will be asked to sit out or may be removed from the class.
Classes will generally be sorted by grade/age. Some classes will be sorted based upon ability
Attendance for Enrichments & Rehearsals:
Attendance is imperative to the success of our students and our program. It is a two way street. Our students can not grow and learn and excel if they are not in class. Likewise, the Conservatory’s reputation can not be maintained if our students produce mediocre work.
While attendance in our program does not get reported to the state, we do maintain the right to remove students from the program due to attendance issues.
Any student that misses 3 enrichment classes in a semester for unexcused reasons and/or without prior notice will be dropped from the class.
Any Conservatory student that misses 3 rehearsals for unexcused reasons and/or without prior notice will be dropped from the production.
Our Enrichment classes will begin on time. Tardiness will not be tolerated. Once class has begun, the door will be locked and students will not be permitted to attend class. This will, of course, count as an absence.
-
Exceptions will be made for unavoidable situations (ie: traffic, doctors appointments, etc) and/or with prior notice.
Any student who is not dressed appropriately or leaves a class early will count as an absence.
-
Exceptions will be made for students that have given prior notice.
We understand that illnesses happen. A doctor's note may be requested to excuse an absence or tardiness to class/rehearsal.
We ask that doctors appointments be scheduled outside of school hours, but understand that that is not always feasible. A note will be required to excuse time missed for said appointments.
We also encourage our students to seek professional auditions/work. Any paid opportunity is an excused absence from class. Documentation may be required for the time missed.
Examples of excused absences are as follows, but not limited to:
-
Professional auditions
-
Professional shows
-
Internships
-
Commercials
-
Television/Films (student or otherwise)
-
Voice over work/Recording artist sessions
-
Theatrical workshops
-
Photo Shoots/Headshots
* In the event that a student is cast in a show outside of TSP that conflicts with their Enrichment Class(es), they may be removed from that class for the semester. No refund will be given for removal of that class.
Students enjoy the luxury of a flexible schedule during the academic and conservatory portion of their day, provided that they maintain good grades and remain in good academic standing.
Academic Excellence:
Friday: Friday’s will be mandatory for 5th - 7th grade, unless written notice is given. Any student in 8th grade and above that is falling behind will be required to attend class on Fridays to catch up.
Each student will be required to stay on top of their school work. Meaning that they may not “fall behind” in any class.
Each student will be required to maintain, at minimum, a grade of 70%, or “C,” in each class.
Academic Probation:
Any student that is notified that they are “falling behind” or with a grade lower than 70% in their school work will be notified and given the week to catch up. If no progress is made in an effort to catch up within the week, they will be removed from Enrichment Classes until they are caught up. Students will be required to be picked up after the academic day has concluded.
If, after a week of removal from Enrichment Classes, the student is still behind, they may be removed from any rehearsals at TSP until they are caught up.
If a student misses more than three (3) classes or rehearsals for unexcused reasons and/or without prior notice they will be dropped from the class and may lose their role in the show.
Students may also be removed from the program or not asked to return the following year.
Academic Probation, removal from classes, removal from shows, and/or removal from the program does not justify any refunds as the fault has fallen entirely on the student. Tuition is still required for the full year
Champion Preparatory Academy is a partner of our program. They are our "umbrella school" and your child will be registered in the state as a private school student of Champion Prep, not a homeschool student. Please visit www.Championprep.org and visit their Homeschool Academy to see the extra options and guidance this school offers us.
